Isabell Werth and Wendy - a golden team
In less than eight months, the dressage rider Isabell Werth and the young horse Wendy de Fontaine have become a golden team. Isabell Werth threw her fist in the air, then patted the just ten-year-old black mare Wendy de Fontaine in the dressage arena at Versailles. The thanks were due to her horse, who had made this wonderful Olympic afternoon in the impressive setting and an entry in the history books possible in the first place.
The two have only been a team since January 2024. The story of Werth and Wendy is therefore one of an incredibly fast growing together, perhaps even the fastest growing together in what is actually such a complex world-class dressage sport. At least when it comes to success, yesterday’s Olympic gold and today’s Olympic silver.
