Dr. Auma Rita Obama is a Kenyan Germanist and has been a member of the World Future Council WFC since 2014.

"As a girl, I dreamed of being noticed, taken seriously and heard. And I realized early on that I had to do something so that this dream would not remain a dream." Auma Obama is the daughter of government official Barack Obama senior and housewife Kezia Obama. Her love and connection to her home country Kenya encourages Obama to fight for a sustainable future - not only in Africa.

"It's up to everyone to improve their own lives."

With her foundation "Sauti Kuu", Auma Obama supports children and young people in her home country of Kenya. The Germany alumna is convinced that everyone can take control of their own lives - with the right support.

Auma Obama: A "strong voice" for all.

"As a young woman in Nairobi, I felt constricted. In Germany, I found my voice." With her many years of experience, Dr. Obama helps others to give their words a voice. She is increasingly committed to the issues of ecological, economic and social sustainability for society - and gives speeches and keynotes all over the world.

A "strong voice" for all: The Auma Obama Foundation - Sauti Kuu is a foundation that was established in Kenya and has also been active in Germany since 2013. Auma Obama supports children and young people in their efforts to lead independent and financially stable lives. The goal: children, young people and families discover, develop and use their own resources and potential.

Dr. Auma Obama is also a member of the Kilimanjaro Initiative, which supports young people from disadvantaged families. The aim is to give them the chance to lead an independent life free from violence.

Dr. Auma Obama has received several awards for her social and humanitarian commitment, including the "International TÜV Rheinland Global Compact Award", the "Hans-Rosenthal-Ehrenpreis", the World Human Rights Award, Austria, the "Prix Courage Award" and many more.

Sauti Kuu Foundation

The non-profit organization founded in Kenya by Auma Obama, the Sauti Kuu Foundation, or "Strong Voices", has set itself the task of showing children and young people their opportunities in the areas of education, economy and culture so that they can move towards a self-determined future. It is primarily about developing personal responsibility, as it has been proven that the "development aid" project does not work sustainably. "Young people should understand that they should take their destiny into their own hands. They then realize that they can achieve much more if they are involved themselves. Then they are motivated and work hard. They just need the opportunities and our support."
